We’re still working out a few kinks (especially on the blog), so please bear with us for the remainder of the day, but nevertheless, I’m very happy to introduce you to our new website!
We’re all so very proud of our launch line-up – and we hope you’ll enjoy browsing through the site.
We’ve had a few questions crop up already, and I’d like to take the opportunity to answer them here.
Q. Will there be an indication of book length?
A. Our books are all priced by length. While we don’t currently display the length on the book detail pages, we’re looking to add it. In the meantime, we will add this price chart to our FAQ page.
15-25k: $2.99
26-50k: $3.99
50-75k: $4.99
75-100: $5.99
100k+: $6.99
Q. Will you have excerpts?
A. Yes – they are coming! We’ll be adding Browse-the-Book functionality to the website soon. Until then, I posted excerpts of all launch books on our blog: Launch book excerpts
Q. Do you accept Paypal.
A. Unfortunately, no. At this time we only accept Visa and Mastercard.
Q. Do you sell PRC?
A. For launch, we were only able to move forward with Epub and PDF. We hope to add PRC in the near future.
Q. Why is your FAQ page geared towards authors, not readers?
A. We’ll be updating that soon to include reader/customer focused questions along with the author-focused ones, since I’m sure we’ll be getting lots of questions from readers/customers in the coming days & weeks!
Speaking of which, please do share your comments and questions with us here on the blog. We want to hear from you!
I just bought several of the launch titles! It was a little disappointing that I had to buy directly from Amazon for Kindle format titles, so I can’t contribute to the bestseller stats,
, but I’m still glad I have the option to get them for Kindle.
I’m sure being able to order Kindle format direct is on your eventual to-do list, but wanted to give weight to the need by expressing my desire for it.
Congratulations to Carina’s staff and authors!
Woot!
Launch day! Congratulations to all of this week’s authors!
Hooray, and happy launch day, Carina Press!!
Hi Natalie – it’s definitely on our to-do list! But in the meantime, I’m happy you were able to get them from Amazon directly. I hope you enjoy your Carina Press pruchases
I just bought my first Carina Press title! Doing the happy dance
Claire – I’ll join you! *happy dances*
Happy Launch Day!
I’m off to the Carina Store.
Is there a wish list function on the site that I missed? I see books I want to get but have to wait. I was hoping to start building my wish list now so I don’t forget or miss anything that catches my eye.
Happy Launch Day.
Congratulations on your launch!! Site looks great!
Wooohoooo!

Woohoo! Launch day is finally here. I’m off to flex my credit card at the store.
Will there be a heat level and a place for comments or star ratings on the books? I always find it difficult knowing what to purchase without those.
@Brandy – no wishlist just yet – but it’s coming.
@Laurie – no specific ‘heat level’ indicator, but we’ve tried to be as clear as possible by listing genres and niches, and indicating the type of read you’ll get by the cover & description copy. We don’t have any current plans for comments/ratings…but that’s not to say we won’t ever have them.
Nice, clean layout, but I have two questions it doesn’t look like have been addressed yet.
1. Will there be a New Release page to see all new releases at one time? For instance, I wouldn’t know Bonnie Dee’s book is available from the first page if she wasn’t already on the bestseller list. She’s not in the featured section (though her graphic is beneath it).
2. Will there be a Coming Soon page, or will the books be listed on the genre page as pre-sales as they are currently?
Great start, but I do have some suggestions. Along with a wishlist, I would like the ability to give an ebook as a gift.
I also would like to see the Coming Soon and New Releases sections.
Also, some titles only appeared if I searched for them or as an “also recommended” title when I was looking at another book. Why are some hard to find?
I’m excited to see it launch at last and already have a few titles in my shopping cart!
Many congrats. You already have a few of my fave authors on board. Met Angela James at Lori’s & she patiently showed me all the ereaders she had with her because I can’t decide which one to get. She knows her stuff. What a great team you have.
@B – New Releases will always be listed on the homepage the week of their release. We won’t normally have more New Releases than we have ‘spots’ – this launch month is a little different since we’re launching with approx 10 per week. And yes, Coming Soon will be coming soon!
@Tia – gift certificates are in the works! What books couldn’t you find? Every book is listed on multiple Genre and Niche pages…if there are any ‘hidden’, it certainly isn’t deliberate and I’ll get it fixed a.s.a.p!
A few thoughts (take them or leave them)…
Make the Add to Cart button a different color and have it say pre-order or pre-sale on the books that are pre-orders.
Sell Mobi/prc format directly since it looks like your books on Amazon are DRM’d.
Get setup with PayPal (or some other payment method) if possible. A lot of people in countries other than the US don’t have a credit card.
Add a browse by author section to the ‘shop by’ side menu.
Samples on the individual book page would be great (I see you’re working on it).
An easier way to find what formats are available (had to look a bit to find).
An easier way to find the book’s length (took a while to find the pricing structure).
Best of Luck!
How exciting Carina has launched! The e-bookstore looks crisp and clean, which I like. The pricing is very attractive, too. Time to decide which books to buy!
I had some trouble finding The Price of Freedom, although I did eventually find it in the Djinn niche. I expected it to appear in the Fantasy and Fantasy Romance categories, but it didn’t.
I can’t get the feed to work for the new blog. It shows only the posts that were on the old blog and the links to those lead to a 404 error page. The feeds for comments seem to work, but not the feed for new posts.
:ahem: Also, I held off on purchasing on the off-chance that I’d win the titles I want in the drawing from the blog posts.
Did I miss it or is it still on?
@ ~B – thanks for all the great feedback. Some of your suggestions are already in the works! And I’ll be looking into the feasibility of the rest.
@Tia – The Price of Freedom is categorized as Romance/Paranormal Romance/Djinn – so it’s available on those pages. I’m releived that it’s actually where it’s supposed to be, but I can understand that it was frustrating that it wasn’t where you thought it should be. When in doubt, you should be able to find any book by Title, Author, or Keyword via Search.
@MaryK – Thanks for letting us know about the problem with the blog feed. I’ll review a.s.a.p. I just checked on the status of the Countdown contest winners…and aparently it will be done today…so not long to wait to find out if you won!
I just want to tell you that I’m all new to weblog and really enjoyed this web page. Likely I’m likely to bookmark your blog post . You amazingly have exceptional posts. Bless you for revealing your webpage.
